Today, I am pleased to announce the appointment of two instructors. I am sure you will all agree that David is the tactical and weapons guru. He is therefore the perfect choice for a weapons instructor. Given all his real world instructor experience with the RAF, Alan Johnson will become our new flight training instructor.

To reflect the responsibility and work involved in the post, Alan Johnson will be promoted to Squadron Leader. David is already of that rank, but nevertheless, congratulations and thank you to you both for stepping up.

As instructor pilots, they will both now be permanent members of staff on 141 Squadron, and the postings will be made with immediate effect. Like me of course, they will also be operational pilots with 74 Squadron when not instructing.

Thanks Neil, and thanks also to those who have offered kind words. As any good QFI I will try and learn as much as I teach, probably more!

A very enjoyable afternoon Neil!!

What is my next qualification on the a10c? Do I move on and complete the weapons missions?

You can work your way through the 74 Squadron weapons training missions next Scott. They ask you to produce a mission track for assessment, but that isn't necessary any longer.

We're going to set up a more in depth program of training, but we haven't got there just yet.

Best thing to do is get into some online operational flights and familiarise yourself with the procedural side of things there. We'll have to arrange some more weekend operations to get you more involved with that.

Hi Neil

Many thanks for your response. I will use my time at the weekends wisely and get online for some missions.
