Matt Purnell has made a big contribution to RAF Air, and for that, and his leadership qualities in the air, he is duly promoted to the rank of Flight Lieutenant.

Congratulations Matt, very well deserved.

Please ensure you are correctly dressed when you report to the mess to buy everyone a drink at the bar. Mine is of course a large gin and tonic!

Assuming we will start to get a full squadron of pilots soon, we will need to appoint 4 flight leaders, so pilots with the necessary experience and confidence in their leadership abilities need to be selected.

It will of course mean a hike in pay, and you'll get to use the executive toilet! :D :D

Seriously, I think these roles make or break missions, and we certainly have the talent among us to start taking things to a higher level. Ideally, candidates need to be available to fly regularly, and of course, stepping up to the plate isn't for everyone, but if you like a challenge, then maybe this is an opportunity not to miss.

If things continue in the current vein, we may even expand out to 2 squadrons, and perhaps have a fighter and a strike squadron. It is still questionable just how many pilots will fly on a regular basis, and that is the deciding factor of course.

Just private message me if you are interested in a deeper involvement, and the candidates will be put forward to the selection board when it next meets.
